Operation New Birmingham is a non-profit, public private partnership between the
City of Birmingham and the private business community. Its primary mission is economic development in the Birmingham City Center. ONB also promotes racial harmony throughout the Birmingham metro area through its Community Affairs Committee. ONB’s overriding goal is to make the Birmingham City Center the #1 choice for business, living, healthcare, education and the arts & entertainment.
The Birmingham City Center is officially described as a 360-block area bounded by:
- I-65 on the west;
- 12th Avenue North on the north;
- The Elton B. Stephens Expressway (Hwy 31) on the east;
- 12th Avenue South on the south.
- ONB also works in the Lakeview District.
ONB is under contract to the City of Birmingham, to implement the
